Absolutely fantastic as it is both water retentive but also allows air to circulate around the roots. This Tree Fern fiber has become our go to medium for seedlings and germinating seeds that do not want a large amount of moisture around them while germinating. It can be used on its own or incorporated into a mix best suited for your growing conditions. This product is milled multiple times to obtain its texture and remove all debris The biggest complaint we had when we started using it was all the fibrous chunky tree fern which made repotting so much harder than it needed to be. We were also not happy at all by how much of that chunky debris per bag was completely unusable and needed to be trashed. We loved this product so much and started to use so much of it we decided to get a commercial grade milling machine to remove all the debris. You may still find one or two strands that wiggle their way through, but it is less than 0.05% of what you would get before. Our bags are ready to be used. This product is supplied to us by the premium distributor of New Zealand Tree Fern. It is completely natural and NEVER treated with any chemical whatsoever. It is also sustainably harvested which was of utmost importance to us while sourcing.
